  Prevent child abuse

Plan a Blue Ribbon Campaign in your community

  1. Mobilize community support
Join forces with local community groups that are concerned about the welfare of children.
  2. Plan community awareness activities
Keep kids safe and families strong by organizing activities and events that promote positive parenting and child abuse prevention. Download the event planning worksheet to help you get started.
  3. Determine your needs and locate funding
Once your team has developed a community awareness campaign, determine your needs in the following areas: money, materials, people, time and leadership. Approach local groups such as Rotary, Jaycees, churches and businesses and ask them to support your campaign by making a monetary or in-kind donation.
  4. Get media support
The media can be an effective partner in disseminating messages to a target audience. Contact local newspapers, radio and television stations and ask them to feature stories about child abuse prevention and see if they will make a donation for ad space to help publicize your campaign.
  5. Evaluation and wrap-up
After the campaign has been carried out, evaluate your progress and seek feedback.
Utilize what you learned from the campaign to help plan future child abuse prevention positive parenting awareness activities.
